Solutions Engineer

Responsibilities

  • Educate the prospects in how their business priorities (use cases) map to the Continuuity Reactor and Continuuity Loom solutions and integrate with the ecosystem
  • Attend and drive technical discussions on customer calls with the Sales TeamYou will utilize your excellent technical and relationship building skills in working with prospects, customers, vendors, partners and sales to ensure that optimum systems solutions are provided to customers
  • Understand the vast immature and mature Hadoop ecosystem unfolding and apply to your customers business priorities
  • Grow your technical acumen on Apache Hadoop, the ecosystem and customer critical and specific solutions
  • Provide technical consultation and education to the Sales team by keeping them apprised on new product information
  • Limited management supervision and direction is provided. This individual will operate independently and drive results as a team and as an individualIdentify customer needs and requirements
  • Define customer acceptance criteria for POC evaluation projects
  • Work with Sales to respond to RFP's
  • Provide technical consultation and disseminate product information to the sales team
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Account management and project management experience
  • Strong aptitude for learning new technologies and understanding how to utilize them in a customer-facing environment
  • Ability to follow standard engineering principles and practices
  • Creative approach to problem solving
  • Travel to the prospective customer's sites as necessary
  • Excellent Prospect and Partner presentation skills

Requirements

  • 2+ years of pre-sales or support experience in Hadoop
  • 5+ years of pre-sales, support, or software development experience in distributed computing, database, or related technologies
  • 5+ years with Java or C++
  • B.S. or M.S. in Computer Engineering or a related field
  • Experience with Hadoop, application middleware, noSQL, data management, distributed systems, or other distributed application domains is highly desired
  • Strong understanding of open source software and the OSS process
  • Experience with Hadoop cluster setup, maintenance, and optimization, including such components as HBase, Pig, Hive, Zookeeper
  • Experience creating and delivering presentations and demos to audiences ranging from cluster ops teams to senior executives
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
  • Demonstrated ability to solve complex technical problems in a systematic way; strong numerical intuition

You will collaborate with the sales teams to understand customer requirements, by listening to clients and using astute questioning to understand, anticipate and exceed their needs, and then architect a solution to meet those requirements. You will be able to quickly synthesize input from customers on-the-fly and be able to drive engaging discussions on how Continuuity can solve their technology problems and drive business value You will become intimately acquainted with customers business requirements, technical needs, systems, environment and service history, enabling you to present targeted business solutions.
